1. Introduction
The Trainborne (or On-Train, Rail, Mobile, Bus, Tram) Communication System is the communication system used in the rolling stock such as train in Metro/MTR/MRT, Light Rail Transit, High Speed Train etc. It is required to satisfy the needs of voice, video and data communication between the train drivers, passengers and the controllers in Operation Center.
Basically, the Trainborne (On-Train) Communication System consists of several sub-systems such as:
A) Public Addressing (PA) System (or Digital Voice Announcement System),
B) Driving Cab & Passenger Emergency Intercom (or Phone) System,
C) CCTV system,
D) Passenger Information Display or Infotainment System (PIDS or PIS or EIDS),
E) Transmission System (e.g Ethernet, Wifi, Mobile Network) and
F) Interfaces to TETRA Radio, GPS, TSIS/TIMS, ATC/MVB etc.
